What is the Education Scholarship Trust Fund (ESTF) Program?

Families can use the ESTF to provide flexible, customized education for their K-12 students in South Carolina.

  • Scholarships can be used for private school tuition and approved expenses like tutoring, educational therapies, and out-of-district attendance fees.

  • Each student in the program for the 2025-26 school year receives $7,500 in funds, and students in the program for the 2026-27 school year will receive $7,634.

  • The program is run by the South Carolina Department of Education.

Register for the ESTF Waitlist for the 2026-2027 School Year

The ESTF application for the 2026-2027 school year has been closed, as the number of available slots has been reached. You may still join the ESTF program waitlist by registering. Registering will also give you access to all future communications regarding the application for the 2027-2028 school year.

January 15, 2026

Priority Applications for the SC Education Scholarship Trust Fund (ESTF) are Now Open for NEW Families

Priority Window 2 is Open from January 15th through February 8th

Window 2 prioritizes the following families for the ESTF scholarship:

  • Active-duty parent or guardian stationed in South Carolina OR

  • Income at or below 300% FPL OR

  • Prior year public school attendance OR

  • Returning awarded student or sibling who missed Window 1

Big Update: New Changes to the SC Education Scholarship Trust Fund (ESTF)!

The ESTF law has been updated and there are some exciting changes for families!

  • 💵 More funding: Scholarship amounts are increasing to $7,500 per student for the 2025–26 school year.

  • 🏫 Private school tuition: Families can use ESTF funds to pay for approved private school tuition and fees.

  • More flexibility: Students can now attend a public school outside of their assigned school, including other schools in their district or in different public school districts!

  • 🚍 Expanded uses: You can now use funds for transportation (up to $3,000/year), uniforms, inter-district transfer fees, and more.
